Pocket-Audiometer for iPhone is an efficient, handy, fast, reliable and easy to use application by which you are able to perform the hearing test anytime and anywhere, achieving an accurate evaluation of a person’ s hearing loss and auditory problems and auditory capabilities.
This app is primarily intended for the professionals (hearing instrument specialist or audiologist or otolaryngologist) who can easily perform standard hearing tests at the patient’ s home, in clinics, schools or at the workplace, but it is also intended for who want constantly monitor his hearing too.
After a careful study focused to obtain an optimal calibration of Pocket-Audiometer, we can say that the sound quality is quite comparable, in terms of intensity and frequency, to professional audiometers.
In fact, the final calibration was established by the comparison of hearing on 163 subjects, of which 88 with a normal hearing, and 75 with hearing loss due to different causes.
Pocket-Audiometer is the result of a close collaboration between two bioengineers and a specialist in otorhinolaryngology and audiology which are fully available for any kind of clarification regarding use and functions of Pocket-Audiometer (contacts can be found in the INFO section of the application).
Although “Pocket-Audiometer” is essentially focused on the screening, the quality of the product allows for all standard audiometric tests, provided in experienced hands, even at the professional level.
In fact, our portable audiometer can be easily connected to a soundproof booth, with headphones and with bone vibrators, to test conductive hearing mechanisms (more informations in the INFO section of the application).
Furthermore, responses to the tones trough Pocket-Audiometer are recorded on a graph called audiogram (with possibility of inserting in the caption: name, surname, date, report etc ...), which will be shared via email or saved on the device for subsequent storage and comparison with other tests.
The application, as default configuration, is set with a limit of 80dB to avoid possible acoustic trauma, but it is possible, in case of deep deafness,to abolish this limit. It allows to use the masking technique with the possibility to select intensity (in dB), in case of the threshold is very different between the two ears.

N.B. : The authors disclaim all responsibility or liability for an inappropriate use and they point out that hearing tests performed with Pocket-Audiometer have no coroner value, and invite You to do the test with the device in AirPlane mode.
